* 1st Anniversary:  Paper - Paper may seem like a strange thing to give someone, but there are lots of things made of paper that make great anniversary gifts.  Some ideas are movie, concert, or cruise tickets, gift certificates, or books.

* 5th Anniversary:  Wood - Furniture is an obvious choice for a fifth anniversary gift made of wood, and a good piece.  Other wood items that make great anniversary gifts include jewelry boxes, clocks, and wooden signs.

* 10th Anniversary:  Tin or Aluminum - This one can be a little tricky, so it pays to think outside the box.  Tin and aluminum can be found in antique or retro signs and some other decorative items.  They are also often used in containers for foods, coffee, and tea, so these items would be a good choice.

* 15th Anniversary:  Crystal - Crystal is found in many elegant gifts, including wine glasses, light fixtures, and decorative or keepsake items.  It is also often found in jewelry.

* 20th Anniversary:  China - When we think of China, fine dishes come to mind.  This is a great gift for the twentieth anniversary, but it is rather expensive.  China dolls and other collectibles could be more cost-conscious options.

* 25th Anniversary:  Silver - There are lots of silver items that make great anniversary gifts.  Silver jewelry is very popular.  Silver coins, engraved plaques, and silverware are some other ideas.

* 30th Anniversary:  Pearl - Pearls are most often found in jewelry, so pearl necklaces, bracelets, and earrings are common 30th anniversary gifts.  Some decorative items have pearl accents, so they are good alternatives.

* 40th Anniversary:  Ruby - Rubies are also commonly found in jewelry.  Watches, pendants, brooches, and earrings are popular items that may feature rubies in them.

* 50th Anniversary:  Gold - Gold is usually associated with jewelry, but it can also be found in many other items.  These include some collectibles, old coins, plaques, and watches.

* 55th Anniversary:  Emerald - The 55th anniversary is another one that is usually associated with jewelry.  But there are some collectibles that feature emeralds as well.

* 60th Anniversary:  Diamond - The 60th anniversary and each fifth one thereafter are associated with diamonds.  Jewelry and watches are good choices for these anniversaries.

If you want to give a gift that doesn’t fit into the category for the anniversary, don’t despair.  You could incorporate the item, or even the item’s color, into the gift’s packaging.  Or you could forget about traditions and give whatever you want.
